Membership Weather Warning

 In Uncategorized

Dear Residents,

I want to advise everyone that we are closely monitoring the approaching winter storm expected to impact our area. Some weather models indicate snowfall totals could reach 16 to 23 inches; however, final accumulations remain uncertain and may continue to change as the storm develops.

Our crews are ready to plow and treat roadways continuously, regardless of snowfall intensity or temperature, to maintain the safest conditions possible. The association has activated our equipment rental bid and will have additional equipment and operators on site.

The storm is expected to begin early Sunday morning and continue into Monday. Residents should be prepared for prolonged snowfall and periods of reduced visibility.

Plowing Operations

  • Snow will be pushed to the right-hand side of roadways, which is the proper plowing position.
  • Residents should expect snow accumulation at the end of driveways as part of normal plowing operations.
  • Please do not shovel or blow snow back into the roadway, as this creates hazardous conditions and interferes with plowing efforts.

It is advisable to clear the area to the left of your driveway to help prevent the need for second shoveling.

Parking Restrictions
All vehicles must be kept off roadways and cul-de-sacs at all times. This is critical to allow plow trucks and emergency vehicles to operate safely and efficiently. Any vehicle found parked on a roadway or in a cul-de-sac will be towed immediately at the owner’s expense. This policy will be strictly enforced without exception.

Travel Advisory
Residents are strongly encouraged to avoid travel unless absolutely necessary. If travel cannot be avoided, please reduce speed, increase following distance, and remain alert for plow trucks and emergency vehicles.

Power Outage Preparedness
Residents should prepare for possible power outages by charging phones and essential devices in advance and keeping flashlights and batteries readily available. If generators are used, they must be operated outdoors only, away from windows and doors, and never in a basement or garage.
Power outages should be reported directly to PPL at 1-800-342-5775.

If the community experiences a loss of power, the Oak Room will be opened as a warming station. If you find yourself without heat, do have electricity, and need a warm place to go, please contact Public Safety as soon as possible.

Cold Weather Safety
When shoveling snow, please use caution. Heavy snow increases the risk of injury. Pace yourself, take frequent breaks, and dress in warm layers with waterproof gloves and footwear. Pushing snow is recommended whenever possible rather than lifting. Residents are also encouraged to check on neighbors, particularly seniors or those who may need assistance. When shoveling, please let a family member or friend know you are outside so they can check on you in case of an emergency.

To stay safe indoors, maintain a consistent thermostat setting, close off unused rooms to conserve heat, and ensure smoke and carbon monoxide detectors are functioning properly. Never use grills, ovens, or outdoor heating devices inside your home.

We appreciate your cooperation and patience as we work through this storm. Please do not become frustrated with staff or plow operators—they are working continuously, and the Association’s priority remains safety, accessibility, and effective snow removal.

Sincerely,

Phyllis Haase,
Community Manager
